Greg Miller

Greg became involved with Emergency Services in 1990 as a volunteer with the Jefferson County Rescue Squad and the Lakeway Central Volunteer Fire Department. As his interest grew, Greg enrolled in the Emergency Medical First Responder class at Walters State Community College immediately followed by the completion of the EMT / EMT-IV Program in 1992. Greg was employed by Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services in 1992.

Greg enrolled and completed the first Paramedic Program offered at Walters State Community College in 1994. After completion of Paramedic School, Greg realized his desire to teach, and began obtaining instructor certifications in many disciplines. While at Jefferson County EMS, Greg was promoted to Quality Control Officer, Infection Control Officer, EMS Coordinator, and finally Deputy Director.

From there, Greg became the Paramedic Program Director at Walters State Community College. In this role, he performed classroom instruction, program direction and began delivering leadership lectures across the State of Tennessee. Greg obtained his Associates degree from Walters State, a Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree from Tusculum College, Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) from Lincoln Memorial University, and in 2016, Greg became one of only 43 Tennessee Graduates of the 4-year Executive Fire Officer Program from the National Fire Academy.

Greg has taught EMS Leadership-1 across the state and routinely presents at State and National Conferences. Most recently, Greg has been serving as the Chief of Sumner County, TN Emergency Medical Services since 2018. He serves on many State and Regional Emergency Services related Boards and Committees. Greg was appointed by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee in 2020 to sit on the Tennessee Emergency Medical Services Board where he still serves to this day.
